ABA Therapy
Our ABA Programs are assent-based, child-focused, and OAP approved.
What is ABA Therapy?
ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy, is a therapeutic approach grounded in the principles of learning and behavioural science. An ABA program can help individuals with Autism build the skills they need to be able to navigate society and gain independence.
Why is assent important?
Assent in ABA takes place specifically when a child not only understands the task at hand but also willingly agrees to actively participate in that task, either through verbal communication or physical actions that demonstrate their consent. At Transitions, we strongly believe that the concept of assent is not only what makes ABA an ethical practice, but it also plays a crucial and essential role in ensuring that therapy is more effective and meaningful for each child involved.
What are some common ABA Therapy goals?
ABA programs are tailored specifically to the abilities and requirements of every child. Some typical objectives encompass, but are not restricted to, improving:
  • Language and communication
  • Social skills
  • Life skills (such as bathing, dressing, toilet training)
  • Recreation and leisure skills
  • Educational and academic abilities
